The Stone Pond

Instrumental by Trancelike Void (2010)

In humanity's never-ending quest to classify things there seem to be just as many subgenres of subgenres as there are main genres themselves. It gets so confusing at times but we as music lovers plod along. I've seen a lot of different names for the music produced by Trancelike Void, but I'll just settle for calling it art.

This song contains drums, an acoustic guitar, and an almost imperceptible layer of white noise between the instruments. The white noise brings the subtle tone changes that tie all the time changes together and give the song a natural ebb and flow. It is these subtleties and low-key sound that left me feeling a preternatural calm. All the stresses and negative emotions I've been feeling over the past few weeks were framed and put on a wall for my observation. Of course, clocking in at nearly 13 minutes, toward the end I was nearly exhausted emotionally but felt better nonetheless. The short span of relief made everything worth the 13 minutes.

I know this music isn't Mardi's style, but I still wonder what she thinks of it.
