This speech is my recital, I think it's very vital
To rock a rhyme, that's right on time
It's Tricky is the title, here we go...
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...it's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tr-tr-tr-tricky (Tricky) Trrrrrrrrrrricky
I met this little girlie, her hair was kinda curly
Went to her house and bust her out, I had to leave real early
These girls are really sleazy, all they just say is please me
Or spend some time and rock a rhyme, I said "It's not that easy"
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...(How is it D?) It's Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Trrrrrricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tricky (Tricky) Tricky
In New York the people talk and try to make us rhyme
They really (hawk) but we just (walk) because we have no time
And in the city it's a pity cause we just can't hide
Tinted windows don't mean nothin', they know who's inside
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...(How is it D?) Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky) huh!
When I wake up people take up mostly all of my time
I'm not singin', phone keep ringin' cause I make up a rhyme
I'm not braggin', people naggin' cause they think I'm a star
Always tearin' what I'm wearin', I think they're goin' too far
A girl named Carol follows Daryll every gig we play
Then D dissed her and dismissed her, now she's jockin' Jay
I ain't lyin', girls be cryin' cause I'm on TV
They even bother my poor father cos he's down with me
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...(How is it?) Tricky (Tricky) Tricky (Tricky)
It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time
It's Tricky...Tr-tr-tr-tr-tr-tricky (Tr-Tr-Tr-Tricky) Tr-tr-tr...
We are not thugs we don't use drugs but you assume on your own
They offer coke and lots of dope but we just leave it alone
It's like that y'all (y'all), but we don't quit
You keep on (rock!) shock! Cause this is it...
Run D.M.C. Original 1987 Remixed 1997
There is absolutely no meaning in this song that I can quickly apply to life. The tune is catchy the lyrics are easy and its fun to bounce around to. Simply put it is a fun song, nothing more.
The movie "Road Trip" and "White Chicks" made the song big. It was the final single released from the group's third album. The song peaked at #57 on the Billboard Hot 100.
So this song had really no message to portray but I know at least one reader will be surprised this is on my music list. It's just a fun song when your feeling goofy or have too much energy.
My next choice will be more in depth.....
Your turn my dear other half.....
Oh yes, this song brings back memories. I had a dubbed copy of "Raising Hell" that my stereo ended up eating because I played it so much. This was my favorite song on the album as I had already grown tired of "Walk this Way".
ReplyDeleteI hate to burst your bubble, Mardi, but this song was popular long before those movies were even concepts hehe.
Run DMC was part of the 2nd generation of rappers to come out, but the first to hit it big and cross culture barriers. This song is proof of their talent and appeal. Good choice, Mardi.
Death metal to kiddie-pop to power ballads to Zakk Wylde to darkness to fun raps... What's next for our dear adventurers? Tune in tomorrow for another chapter in the story.
It is funny to me that you put this up here. The original head banger is jamming to Run D.M.C. I just can't see my little girl in her torn jeans, faded G n R t-shirt bouncing around to this song but hey its all good.
ReplyDeleteI do think this song was brought back to the forefront with the 2 movies mentioned so your both right.
Hmm.... where is she going to go next??
